First Tuesday Film Club:
Established in April 2012 the First Tuesday Film Club presents art and foreign films as well as documentaries once a month at 10:00 AM, 12:00 and 7:00 PM. The response to this “club” whose aim is to simply provide some alternate movies on a regular basis at our regular prices – no dues required – has been very gratifying. Flyers are available at the Lake and a description of each film is included on this website.
There is an advisory committee who assist with the selection of films, help secure special guest lecturers and film discussion leaders and suggest ways to promote the movies in Oak Park, River Forest and the surrounding area. Our current committee includes:
Mary Kay O'Grady
Shirley Johnson (Classic Cinemas)
Your feed-back is important to us. Suggestions are always welcome and can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
"I Am Not Your Negro: In his new film, director Raoul Peck envisions the book James Baldwin never finished - a radical narration about race in America, using the writer's original words. He draws upon James Baldwin's notes on the lives and assassinations of Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr to explore and bring a fresh and radical perspective to the current racial narrative in America.” I Am Not Your Negro, will be presented on Tuesday, May 2 at 10:00 AM, 12:00 and 7:00 PM. Admission is $6 matinee/senior and $8.50 evening.
