Elmhurst Historical Museum presents “Centuries of Progress”

10/26/2012 - 1/6/2013

The Elmhurst Historical Museum is hosting a new exhibit called Centuries of Progress: American World's Fairs, 1853-1982.  This exhibit will be on display October 26, 2012 - January 6, 2013.  The Museum Hours are Tuesday - Sunday 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Admission is Free.  This exhibit is sponsored by Classic Cinemas.  Click here to visit the museums offical website.

The history of the American World's Fairs comes to Elmhurst in a national traveling exhibition documenting the spectacle and wonder of the stateside World's Fairs. The exhibit features photographs, posters, video displays, and artifacts from the exhibitions held on U.S. soil. The exhibit will be supplemented with a special feature entitled "Elmhurst Goes to the Fair," featuring rare artifacts from the museum's collection from both of Chicago's fairs -- the Columbian Exposition of 1892 and the 1933 World's Fair -- and a special section on former Elmhurst resident and international World Fair promoter, Thomas Barbour Bryan. This traveling exhibition is a program of Exhibits USA, a division of the Mid-America Arts Alliance and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The Elmhurst Historical Museum is located at:
120 E. Park Avenue
Elmhurst, IL 60126
