First Tuesday Film Club:
Over the past several months we have spoken to and met with a number of movie goers encouraging us to offer an art/specialty movie once every month. With that in mind, the Lake Theatre is embarking on a trial program to present an art, foreign, documentary, specialty, or classic movie on the first Tuesday of every month.
We have formed an advisory committee to assist with the selection of films, to help secure special guest lecturers and film discussion leaders, and suggest ways to spread the word throughout Oak Park, River Forest and the surrounding area. Our current committee currently includes:
Bobbie Raymond
Susie Helfrich
Mary Kay O'Grady
Shirley Johnson (Classic Cinemas)
With unprecedented (and exclusive) access to the Youth America Grand Prix, the largest competition that awards full scholarships to top ballet schools, First Position takes audiences on a yearlong journey around the world. At a time when art, music and dance for children are severely under-funded, the film reveals the struggles and success, the pain and extraordinary beauty of an art form so many children across the globe are determined to dedicate their lives to- despite the odds. "The Women on the 6th Floor", will be presented on Tuesday, December 6th at 12:00 and 7:00 p.m. Admission is $6 matinee/senior and $8.50 evening.
