50’s Science Fiction Film Series is hosted by the Lindo Theatre in partnership with the Stephenson County Museum and Highland Community College. It is designed to offer movie-goers the experience of viewing time-honored American Film classics along with the opportunity to discuss various aspects of each film. Admission is $5.
The Music Man: Confidence man Harold Hill arrives at staid River City intending to cheat the community with his standard scam of offering to equip and train a boy's marching band, then skip town with the money since he has no music skill anyway. Things go awry when he falls for a librarian he tries to divert from exposing him while he inadvertently enriches the town with a love of music.
The films in the series havebeen selected with the assistance of Ed Finch the Executive Director for the Freeport Historical Museum and Alan Wenzel the Speech and Communications Instructor for Highland Community College. They will introduce each movie and lead a discussion afterward. Movie-goers are encouraged to stay after the movie to participate in this exchange.
