Lilies of the Field: Homer Smith, an unemployed construction worker, heading out west stops at a remote farm in the desert to get water when his car overheats. The farm is being worked by a group of East European Catholic nuns, headed by the strict Mother Maria, who believes that Homer has been sent by God to build a much needed church in the desert.
The films in the series have been selected with the assistance of Ed Finch the Retired Executive Director for the Stephenson County Museum and Alan Wenzel the Retired Speech Communications Instructor for Highland Community College. They will introduce each movie and lead a discussion afterward. Movie-goers are encouraged to stay after the movie to participate in this exchange.
