The H Foundation presents its 3rd Annual Comedy for Cancer at the Tivoli Theatre located at 5021 Highland Avenue in Downers Grove on Thursday, February 27. The fundraiser helps support basic science cancer research studies at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University and will be hosted by Andrea Darlas featuring comedians Jeanie Doogan, Mike Toomey, and headliner Pat Tomasulo; renowned regional comics who perform regularly at comedy clubs in Chicago and across the country and have appeared nationally on network and cable TV.
The H Foundation is one of the top private nonprofit organizations in the nation dedicated to funding early stage scientific research. The grassroots, volunteer-led organization has raised over $9 million for clinical studies that have leveraged over $115 million in additional grants based on break-through scientific discoveries. Many leading cancer experts cite early stage research funding as crucial to the overall goal of curing a disease that affects 1 in 3 people.
Comedy for Cancer doors will open at 6 p.m. with an opening reception and light bites from local restaurants. The comedy program begins at 7:30 p.m.

The H Foundation
The H Foundation was founded by a few friends with entrepreneurial spirits after the loss of a loved one from breast cancer. Determined to put their grief into action they created and hosted the Goombay Bash -- named after a tropical cocktail -- a fundraising gala disguised as a casual Caribbean-style party which attracts sports and entertainment celebrities to Navy Pier every summer.
Since 2001, The H Foundation has raised over $9 million donating nearly every dollar raised to the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. These funds are used as seed money for basic science cancer research projects that earn additional government or private funding based on promising discoveries. The H Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization. 100% of its funding comes from donations by generous businesses, communities, families, and individuals.
