Join the premier year-opening event excitement of the Oak Park IL Film Festival, opening -
September 12th at 6:30 pm.
Cocktail attire is suggested. Have our photographer (free downloads) or your friend take your photo in front of the festival backdrop.
Then, before the feature, hear guest speakers who will give you a brief background on The Abyss and its co-star, Oak Parker Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. The speakers are Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio's sister, Gussie Lenehan, Dr. Deborah Holdstein, film historian and professor, and Franklin Stevenson, who worked on the original production.
Abyss, released in 1989, is an early James Cameron film with cutting-edge special effects he would later bring to blockbusters such as Terminator 2, Titanic, and Avatar. The Film stars Ed Harris, Michael Biehn, and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and is a favorite for many. Besides a suspenseful story and great acting, its stunning visuals are best seen on the big screen. This rarely-seen Special Edition is the director's cut, which adds scenes and restores continuity.
Rated PG13.
